Faculty history

Establishment

The Faculty of History was established in 1995 within the Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute, initially as a separate group and later as a department under the Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature. In its early years, it admitted around 25 students annually, and within four years, this number exceeded 100. The first head of the department was Alijon Botirov, a candidate of philosophical sciences and associate professor.

Starting in 1999, the department was reorganized into the independent Faculty of History and Law. The first dean appointed was Erkin Kholbutayev, a candidate of philosophical sciences and associate professor, who served in this position until 2006.

Development Stages

Throughout its history, the faculty has been led by numerous scholars, including Abdunabi Khotamov (2006–2008), Ziyodulla Kholboyev (2008–2009), Bakhtiyor Mirkomilov (2009–2010), Sirojkhon G‘oziyev (2010–2016), Safar Abdukholikov (2016–2017), Rahimboy Yarmatov (2017–2019), Ahror Pardayev (2019–2023), and currently, Farrukh Aqchayev, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in historical sciences and associate professor.

The faculty has contributed to the development of history, law, philosophy, and sociology, fostering the establishment of several scientific schools. Notably, Professor Bakhti Ochilova led research in philosophy, while Associate Professor Mukhtor Pardayev spearheaded studies in archaeology.

In the 2000s, the faculty’s building changed several times: it operated on the third and fourth floors of the main building and later in a two-story annex. Today, the faculty is located in a separate educational campus in the Solokli neighborhood.
