Department of Russian Literature and Methods of Teaching It – Center for Literary Heritage, Analytical Culture and Teaching Methods

The Department of Russian Literature and Methods of Teaching It provides students with in-depth knowledge of Russian literature, skills of artistic analysis and teaching methods. The curriculum includes the history of Russian literature, literary theory, analysis of literary texts, modern literary processes and methodological approaches. Students participate in literary seminars, creative meetings and scientific conferences. The scientific activity of the department is aimed at studying the Russian literary heritage, improving methods of literary analysis and improving the quality of education. Graduates successfully work in the fields of school, higher education, journalism, publishing and culture.
 



Department History

Organization

The Department of Russian Literature and Methods of Teaching it traces its roots to the Department of Russian Language and Literature, founded in 1974. Until 1984, education in this area was conducted under the name of the Department of “Russian and Foreign Literature”, and was initially headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor V.I. Prezhevozinsky, then Associate Professor E.V. Smolyakov. In 1984–2011, the department was headed by Associate Professor Dilorom Khodzhimetova. After the departments at the faculty were merged in 1998, in 2011–2018, Associate Professor Dilorom Khodzhimetova headed it, and then Associate Professor Zulfiya Pardayeva headed it. Since 2020, the department has been headed by Associate Professor Zamira Zhalmatova.
 

Development Stages

During the activities of the department, educational and methodological work, international cooperation and scientific research have been widely established. Since January 2010, the “Debut” circle has been established, which serves to prepare students for pedagogical practice and enrich the teaching process through interactive methods (“Cluster”, “Two-part Diary”, “Sinkwein”, etc.). The professors and teachers of the department have completed advanced training courses at the Southern Federal University and have been giving lectures on modern literature and methodology. Also, the members of the department have established scientific and methodological relations with Russian, Kazan and other foreign higher educational institutions.
 

Current activities

Currently, the department operates as part of the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. The professors and teachers include doctors of philology, associate professors, senior teachers and experienced specialists. The department uses electronic resources, online lectures and multimedia tools in the educational process. The “Debut” circle is led by the acting professor of the department, Oleg Kim. The Center for Gifted Students, led by senior lecturer Feruza Shukurova, brings together 25 talented students, including holders of Navoi and Presidential state scholarships.

The Department of Russian Language and Literature was established, the first head was Associate Professor Nusratulla Safarov.
1984
Associate Professor Dilorom Khodzhimetova began to head the Department of “Russian and Foreign Literature”.
1998
The departments of the faculty were merged, and their activities continued as a single structure.
2010
The “Debut” circle was established, and preparatory work for pedagogical practice was launched.
