Department of History of Uzbekistan – Center for Promotion of National History, Scientific Research and Spiritual Heritage

The Department of History of Uzbekistan introduces students to the historical processes, cultural heritage and stages of socio-political development of our country from ancient times to the present day. The curriculum covers such areas as archeology, ethnography, historical source studies, history of national statehood, cultural studies and socio-economic development of modern Uzbekistan. Students strengthen their theoretical knowledge through scientific expeditions, internships in museums and archives, and analysis of historical documents. The professors and teachers of the department actively participate in the creation of monographs, scientific articles, and textbooks on national history. Scientific research is devoted to the history of national statehood, the heritage of historical figures and territorial development. Graduates successfully work as teachers, historians, researchers, museologists and specialists in the cultural and educational field.
 



Department History

Establishment

The department was established in September 1974 under the name of the Foundations of Marxism-Leninism, aimed at providing political education at the institute. Its first head was the candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Hayitboy Haydarov, and in the early years, such teachers as T. Javlonov, S. Anorboyev, S. Boymatov, R. Kholmurodov worked there. According to the order of the Ministry of April 22, 1991, the study of the history of Uzbekistan was introduced in all higher pedagogical and secondary specialized educational institutions, and a separate department of the history of Uzbekistan was established at the institute.
 

Development Stages

In 1974–1983, Hayitboy Haydarov, in 1983–1985, Rashid Kholmurodov, in 1985–1988, Solijon Boymatov, in 1988–1990, Abdurazzok Abulqosimov, and since 1990, Sa’dulla Abdullayev headed the department. In the post-independence period, highly qualified personnel were formed under the leadership of R. Kholmurodov. Later, such specialists as T. Omonjulov, Mukhtor Pardayev, Ahror Pardayev, Akbar Valiev, Furqat Toshboyev, and Abdurasul Amanlayev headed the department. In 2012, the departments of History of Uzbekistan and General History were merged and operated under the name “History Teaching Methodology”, and from the 2022–2023 academic year they were again organized separately.
 

Current activities

Currently, the department is headed by Professor Furqat Toshboyev, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in History. The team includes such specialists as Raya Nurkulova, R. Kholmurodov, Mukhtor Pardayev, Farrukh Aqchayev, D. Kholmurodov, Begzod Mirzayev. The department conducts scientific research on the topic “Study of the history of Uzbekistan based on modern pedagogical technologies and integration of foreign experience and education in the training of qualified personnel.” In recent years, the department has defended doctoral and PhD dissertations, and published textbooks and monographs.

1991–2000
(O`zbek) R. Xolmurodov boshchiligida kafedra tarkibi malakali kadrlar bilan to‘ldirildi.
2000
(O`zbek) T. Omonjulov, Muxtor Pardayev, Ahror Pardayev, Akbar Valiyev mudirlik davrlari bo‘lib o‘tdi.
2012
(O`zbek) O‘zbekiston tarixi va Umumiy tarix kafedralari birlashtirilib, “Tarix o‘qitish metodikasi” kafedrasi tashkil etildi.
2022
(O`zbek) Ilmiy Kengash qarori bilan O‘zbekiston tarixi va Umumiy tarix kafedralari qayta alohida tuzildi, mudir etib Furqat Toshboyev tayinlandi.
