Department of Uzbek Language Teaching Methods – a center that combines innovation and national values in teaching the native language
The Department of Uzbek Language Teaching Methods provides future teachers with effective methods of teaching the native language, linguistic analysis and modern pedagogical technologies. The educational process covers the disciplines of phonetics, lexicology, grammar, textual studies and methodology. Students consolidate their knowledge during the lesson through interactive methods, multimedia tools and creative written works. The department’s scientific research is aimed at improving language teaching methods and integrating national values into the educational process. Students actively participate in language Olympiads, scientific and practical conferences and projects. Graduates work effectively in schools, lyceums, colleges and higher educational institutions.

The Department of Uzbek Language Teaching Methods was opened in 1974, in the early years of the Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute, under the name of the Department of “Uzbek Linguistics”. The first head was Mukhtor Tuychiyev, a candidate of philological sciences, associate professor, and the main task of the department was to develop in-depth teaching and teaching methodologies for the Uzbek language. The initial staff consisted of experienced linguists, methodologists, and young teachers.
Development stages
During 1976–1990, the department was headed by such qualified scientists as Polat Hamdamov and Javkon Lapasov. During this period, the department developed not only the educational process, but also scientific and research work. In the 1990s and 2000s, under the leadership of Mardonkul Tursunpulatov and Bahodir Fayzullayev, new methodological manuals were created, and the quality of practical training for students was improved. Since the 2000s, the methodology of teaching the Uzbek language has been enriched with modern pedagogical technologies. Since 2023, the department has been headed by Associate Professor Sunatulla Soyipov.
Current activities
Currently, the department employs professors and teachers with scientific degrees, including candidates of philological sciences and young scientists with PhD degrees. The main areas of study are Uzbek grammar, phonetics, stylistics, linguoculturology, and teaching methodology. Members of the department apply interactive methods, electronic textbooks, and distance learning technologies to the educational process. In addition, he regularly participates in national and international scientific conferences, contributing to the development of Uzbek linguistics.
