Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Culture – Center for Healthy Lifestyle, Sports Theory and Pedagogical Approaches

The Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Culture provides students with in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills in sports and physical education. The curriculum includes sports theory, physical training methods, anatomy, physiology, pedagogy and sports psychology. Students actively participate in sports training, competitions and health programs. The scientific activities of the department are aimed at analyzing the physical condition of athletes, optimizing training processes and improving the quality of physical education. Graduates work as coaches, physical education teachers, and sports organizers in schools and higher educational institutions.

 



Department History

Establishment

On September 1, 1976, the Department of Physical Education and Sports was established at the institute, which was first headed by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Ravshan Abdumalikov. In subsequent years, the department was headed by experienced specialists such as Khoshim Komilov (1978–1983), associate professor Meliyev Khamidulla Abdullayevich (1984–1985), senior lecturer Shaykhiddin Khasanov (1985–1988), senior lecturer Turgun Kholdorov (1988–1990), senior lecturer Yusupov Farkhod Ganiyevich and associate professor Boriboyev Bahriddin Andayevich (1990–2011). In 2011–2014, Associate Professor Furqat Kuldoshevich Akhmedov served as the interim head, and in 2014–2015, Senior Lecturer Shodiyor Urolovich Atamurodov served as the interim head.

 

Development Stages

In 2015, the department was merged with the Faculty’s Department of Sports and Methods of Teaching Sports and was renamed “Theory of Physical Culture and Methods of Teaching Sports.” During this period, Associate Professor Akbar Sodikov served as the head in 2015–2018, and Senior Lecturer Turdimurod Alikulov served in 2018–2019. In 2019, as a result of changes in the structure of the institute, the department was re-separated and began operating under its current name, and since November, Associate Professor Shodiyor Urolovich Atamurodov has been heading it. The department has had experienced associate professors, senior teachers and young specialists working in different years, contributing to the development of physical education in accordance with modern requirements.

 

Current activities

Currently, the department operates as part of the Faculty of Physical Culture. Professor F.Q. Akhmedov, associate professors T.Kholdorov, N.S. Kulboyev, D.Kh. Abdullayev, N.A. Abdukarimov, senior teachers A.I. Ismatov, A.Yu. Boriboyev, B.A. Qoshmurodov and other specialists actively participate in the educational process. Modernly equipped classrooms, smart rooms, gyms, electronic educational resources and distance learning platforms are widely used in teaching. Scientific research is carried out in the areas of physical education methodology, sports psychology, and health technologies.

Under the leadership of Turgun Kholdorov, practical training and sports training were systematically introduced into the educational process.
1990–2011
Under the leadership of Yusupov Farkhod Ganiyevich and Boriboyev Bakhiddin Andayevich, scientific and methodological work intensified.
2015
The department was merged with the Department of Sports and Methods of Teaching.
2019
The department was independently reorganized, and Shodiyor Urolovich Atamurodov was appointed head.
