Foreign students’ safety
In transport and public places: Be alert, do not focus on gadgets when you are on the road or in public places; do not leave your belongings unattended; walk around town with open bags and a pen. Hold the bag in front of you in crowded places; do not open valuables in public transport (phone, tablet, watches, ornaments); do not carry large amounts of money.
E-Safety: Use the same security measures when shopping online and communicating online as you do at home. Do not share your card PINs, passwords or other sensitive information with anyone. Protecting yourself from extortionists and fraudsters: No one is insured or immune from falling victim to an extortionist. Therefore: Do not trust strangers, do not leave your belongings and do not agree to dubious offers about services. All transactions related to credit cards, phone cards, money transfers, currency exchange, purchases should be made only through official banks and companies. Do not buy SIM cards for mobile phones and other products from mobile sellers: there may be a risk of extortion. Money, especially large amounts, should be withdrawn from ATMs located in bank branches or specially designed buildings. Do not buy currency from strangers (there is a risk of receiving fake money). Taxi Safety: When hiring a taxi on the street: beware of illegal drivers. Order a car from an officially operating taxi company – this ensures your safety and the fixed price. You can quickly find a taxi using mobile applications (for example, “Taxi”, “taxi”) in large cities. Road safety: Cross the road only at authorized places – traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. First, be sure to look around and make sure that there are no cars on the road, then cross the road.
