The 15th International Conference on Foreign Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics officially started today.
Today, the 15th annual conference on Foreign Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics (FLTAL) began at Jizzakh State Pedagogical University.

The conference was held entirely in English, both live and online. More than 100 scholars from 23 countries are participating in the conference. The conference was opened by linguist Azamat Akbarov.

Keynote speakers at the conference plenary session were invited from top universities around the world. Among them, Paul Key Matsuda from the University of Arizona in the USA is also a guest of the conference. FLTAL differs from other traditional conferences in that plenary speakers give 60 minutes instead of 10 minutes, while other speakers give 15 minutes.

The first plenary lecture was opened by Professor Paul Key Matsuda of the University of Arizona with the topic “Reimagining Language and Literacy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities,” while the second plenary lecture was continued by Professor Sarah Mercer of the University of Grasse, Austria, with the topic “Why the Psychology of a Foreign Language Teacher Matters to Us.”

The third plenary lecture was given by Professor Ali Fuad Sevgi from the University of Alabama, USA, on the topic “Teaching English Today: Opportunities, Challenges, and Prospects.” The fourth plenary lecture was given by Professor Bonny Norton from the University of British Columbia, Canada, on the topic “Stories in the Digital Age: Opportunities and Prospects.”

It is worth noting that this international conference serves to promote the latest scientific research, innovative approaches, exchange of experience and strengthen academic cooperation in the field of foreign language teaching methodology and applied linguistics. At the end of the conference, active participants and organizers were awarded with special certificates.
