Department History

Establishment

The Department of General Professional Sciences was first established in 1974 at the Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute under the name “Pedagogy and Psychology”. The main task of the department was to teach pedagogy and psychology to students of all faculties and to ensure that future teachers receive professional and pedagogical training. The initial leadership was held by Associate Professor Khudoybergan Jo’rayev.

Development stages

Until 1988, the department was headed by Associate Professor Zulfiya Hamdamova and Senior Lecturer Zaynulla Kho’jaakhmedov. On November 10, 1990, by order of the Ministry of Public Education, the department was divided into two departments – the Department of Pedagogy and the Department of Psychology. The Department of Pedagogy operated under the leadership of Associate Professor Kholmurod Payzimurodov until 2006. Later, based on the reforms in the educational process, the name and areas of activity of the department changed, and it continued its activities as the Department of “General Professional Sciences”. During this period, the department’s curricula were adapted to modern requirements, methodological manuals were created, and new pedagogical technologies were introduced.

Today’s activities

Currently, the department teaches general professional pedagogical sciences in all educational areas of the university. The department employs experienced professors and teachers, most of whom have academic degrees. Interactive methods, e-learning platforms, and innovative approaches are widely used in the educational process. The department is also active in scientific research and implements projects in the field of modern educational technologies, pedagogical innovations, and monitoring the quality of education. Practical seminars, pedagogical practices, and trainings aimed at improving professional skills are regularly held for students.
