Department of Philosophy, Education and Legal Education – a center for the development of spiritual and educational education, legal knowledge and thinking
The Department of Philosophy, Education and Legal Education specializes in the formation of independent thinking, social responsibility, legal consciousness and civic position in students. The educational process includes the history of philosophy, logic, ethics, aesthetics, educational theory, jurisprudence, constitutional law and legal education methodology. Interactive methods, discussions, round tables, and simulations of court proceedings are used in the lessons. The department’s scientific research is aimed at the history of philosophical thought, the development of legal culture and the improvement of educational work. Students actively participate in social projects, legal advocacy, scientific conferences and competitions. Graduates work as teachers, lawyers, social consultants and specialists in the cultural and educational field.

Foundation
The department traces its roots back to 1987. It began its activities under the name “Scientific Communism and Philosophy” as one of the two departments that separated from the former Marxism-Leninism Department. The first head was Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor Zafar Nizomiddinov. In subsequent years, the department was operated under several names: Marxism-Leninism (1974–1984), Scientific Communism (1984–1987), Philosophy (1987–1991), Philosophy and Law (1991–1997), Philosophy and Etiquette (1997–1999), Philosophy and Fundamentals of Spirituality (2000–2005), Social Sciences (2006–2020).
Development Stages
Since 1992, the directorship has been held by Associate Professor Alijon Batirov, then by Professor Bakhti Ochilova (for almost 20 years), as well as experienced specialists such as Associate Professors Mardonkul Egamkulov, Shavkat Ikromov, Farhod Mamatkulov, Abdunabi Hotamov, and Jurabek Norbekov. In 2020, changes were made to the structure of the faculty, and the departments of Social Sciences and National Idea, Fundamentals of Spirituality and Legal Education were added, and the current department of “Philosophy, Education and Legal Education” was formed. Since September 2021, the directorship has been held by Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor Abdurasul Amanlayev.
Current Activities
The department prepares bachelors in the field of National Idea, Fundamentals of Spirituality and Legal Education, as well as masters in the specialty of Methodology of Teaching Social and Humanitarian Sciences (Fundamentals of Spirituality). The team consists of 25 professors and teachers, 13 of whom have scientific degrees (3 Doctors of Science, 9 Candidates of Science or PhD). Among the members of the department are such scientifically capable specialists as Bakhti Ochilova, Mominkhon Hoshimkhonov, Akbar Saidqosimov, Farhod Mamatkulov, Murod Sayidov, Savlibek Kistauboyev, Maqsuda Ergasheva, Hayot Ashirmatov, Abror Turayev, Jamshid Suvankulov.
