Department History
Establishment
The Department of Informatics and Information Technologies (formerly the Department of Fundamentals of Informatics and Computing) was established in 1987 on the basis of the departments of “Higher Mathematics” and “Technical Means of Teaching”. Its first head was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Dustkul Batyrov, and initially 7 teachers began working. The decisive factor in the creation of the department was the introduction of the subject “Fundamentals of Informatics and Computing” as a mandatory subject in the republican education system.
Stages of Development
In the late 1980s, the department strengthened its material and technical base with 2 “DVK-2M” computers, hundreds of microcalculators, and “YAMAXA” and “KUVS-86” computing classes. In the 1990s, teachers improved their skills by undergoing internships in large centers in Novosibirsk, Moscow, and Ufa. Since the 2000s, local area networks, multimedia and Internet technologies have been introduced. The department has enriched its curricula with modern ICT tools, created new methodological manuals. By the 2020s, attention has been paid to the widespread introduction of digital educational technologies and the development of international cooperation.
