Faculty history

Establishment

The scientific and methodological foundations of the Medical Faculty are linked to the activities of the Department of Life Safety, first established in 1979 at Jizzakh State Pedagogical University. This department operated under the leadership of Professor Murod Rasulov, and medical knowledge began to form at the university on this basis. In 1983, the official Department of Medical Knowledge Fundamentals was established, with its first head being Sa’dulla Ibodov, a candidate of medical sciences and associate professor.

In 1997, based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, the Ibn Sino Health Center was established at the university. The first director of the center was doctor Mahmud Kamolov, who held this position until 2009.

Development Stages

The Medical Faculty was officially established on December 14, 2020, based on Order No. 654 of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education. On this basis, the faculty and its Department of General Professional Sciences were formed.

From the 2021–2022 academic year, Dilfuza Imomova, a candidate of biological sciences and associate professor, was appointed dean of the faculty. The Department of General Professional Sciences was led by Nurali Qurbonov, a doctor of medical sciences and associate professor. During this period, the faculty’s first two programs—General Medicine and Pediatrics—were opened. In 2021, 66 students were admitted to these programs.

Current Activities

Currently, the faculty has 245 students: 140 in “General Medicine” and 105 in “Pediatrics.” The faculty employs 65 professors and instructors, including highly qualified doctors, candidates of sciences, and PhD-level educators.
