A scientific and practical conference was held on the occasion of the 631st anniversary of the birth of Mirzo Ulugbek and the “Cosmonautics Day” on April 12 on the topic “The role of Mirzo Ulugbek’s scientific heritage in the development of modern astronomical science and education.”
The scientific and practical conference, which took place on April 9-11, was organized in collaboration with the Institute of Astronomy of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Jizzakh State Pedagogical University.

The conference was attended by more than 50 professors, teachers and students from the Institute of Astronomy of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Moscow State University, National University of Uzbekistan, Samarkand State University, Kokand State Pedagogical Institute, Shahrisabz State Pedagogical Institute, Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami, University of Information Technologies and Management (Karshi), Chirchik State Pedagogical University and Navoi State University.

The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by Gayrat Kadirov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the JSPU, and Sobit Pulatovich Ilyosov, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Astronomy of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

After that, the scientific and practical conference continued its work according to the program. On this day, students carried out activities related to observing sunspots and observing the Moon with a solar telescope. The second day of the conference continued with lectures on the topic.

 

On the last day of the event, a trip to the University Museum was organized, and a symbolic rocket launch ceremony was held in honor of the Cosmonautics Day on April 12. The scientific and practical conference was concluded with a visit to the Cosmonautics Museum in Gagarin, Mirzachul District.
