At Jizzakh State Pedagogical University, students not only gain knowledge but also value friendship, solidarity, and national traditions.
The “Deans’ Plov” festival held at Student Dormitory No. 1 is a vivid example of these values. Farrukh Akchayev, the Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual-Educational Work, who opened the event, started the plov championship.
The dormitory courtyard was bustling, filled with effort, sweet smiles, and pleasant conversations that warmed the heart. In one area, vegetables were being chopped, elsewhere meat and onions were sizzling, and flames flickered. Someone was stoking the fire, female students were thoughtfully setting the tablecloths… In short, every faculty was trying to showcase their unique style. No one was standing idle with their hands folded!
The cauldrons bubbled uniformly, and the tantalizing aroma filling the air shared a sense of “anticipation” with everyone. The deans hadn’t forgotten to prepare side dishes for the plov either. Songs and cheerful dances added even more charm to the festive atmosphere.
Members of the university’s “Pazanda” (Chef) club delighted the guests with their salads, rich with secret recipes and variety. Each salad prepared by the young chefs captivated the guests not only with its appearance but also with its taste. The fresh aroma of the vegetables, their artistic arrangement, and delicious sauces brought joy to all.
The time came! The cauldron lids were opened one after another. The servings of plov in the large dishes were visually stunning, floating with varied decorations and flavors. The dilemma of “Which one should I try?” gave the judging panel much to think about.
As the judging panel evaluated the plov prepared by the 9 faculties, they also took into account the teamwork and solidarity poured into each dish with love. This truly proved that cooking plov is an art!

Based on the festival results, not just one faculty, but JSPU itself was declared the winner as a single, unified team. This day has become a worthy page in JSPU’s history.
A Turkish song or a Khorezm dance—it didn’t matter. Everyone danced, rejoiced, and laughed. It even seemed like the cauldrons might start dancing with a ‘clang’. Students, teachers, deans… all in one line, in one rhythm! The Plov Festival was written into JSPU’s book of memories in capital letters. Because such a celebration… is not one to be quickly forgotten! 😊🍚✨
