I sincerely congratulate everyone today, November 11th, on the occasion of Trade Unions Day. This year marks 120 years since the establishment of trade unions in Uzbekistan. Over these years, it is no exaggeration to say that trade unions have played a crucial role in protecting the rights and interests of employees, valuing labor, and strengthening solidarity.
It is especially important to note that one of the historic events in the 120-year activity of trade unions was undoubtedly the new Law “On Trade Unions” signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 6, 2019. This Law brought trade union activities to a new stage and expanded their authority. Furthermore, based on the proposals put forward in President Sh. Mirziyoyev’s address to the participants of the 8th Congress in 2020, the tradition of officially designating November 11th as “Trade Unions Day” was established. Indeed, as President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev emphasized, trade unions, with nearly 8 million members, being the most popular and largest non-governmental organization, have a significant share in our practical reforms aimed at ensuring social justice and satisfying the people in our society.
The Trade Union Committee of Jizzakh State Pedagogical University also pays special attention to creating decent working conditions for our staff and ensuring their moral and material support. A number of important measures are being implemented at the university so that employees can work in a healthy environment.
In the short period since September of this year alone, various spiritual and sports events have been organized at the university. In particular, on the occasion of October 1st, “Teachers and Coaches” Day, sports competitions were organized between faculties and departments, as well as among our veterans and retired staff, to strengthen labor prestige and solidarity. Winners and active participants in all held events are being encouraged. Various important events are constantly being organized at our university for employees to work in a healthy and effective environment. For example, trips to noteworthy places in our country are arranged every Saturday and Sunday. The series of trips to Zomin not only allow our staff to relax in nature but also enable them to return to work with new energy and high spirits. Also, theater and film screenings help employees and their families for family relaxation and cultural enrichment. These events serve to strengthen the health of our employees and positively change their attitude towards their profession and the team. Today, the anniversaries of all our employees of retirement age are also being celebrated worthily at the university; in a word, their labor is being recognized.
Certainly, there is still much work ahead of us. We consistently continue tasks such as ensuring decent working conditions for employees, protecting the interests of youth and women, and expanding opportunities and places for rest in sanatoriums and resorts.
I congratulate all our employees once again on Trade Unions Day. The work we are doing together is important not only for our university but also for the development of our entire nation.
