Department History

Organization

The Department of Geography and Fundamentals of Economic Knowledge was initially established in 1991 as the Department of Fundamentals of Natural Sciences within the Faculty of Pedagogy and Primary Education. The first head was Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Ne’mat Ismatov, and the department’s activities were aimed at methodological teaching of geography and training qualified teachers.

In the 2009–2010 academic year, the Departments of Regional Geography and Fundamentals of Geography and Economic Knowledge were merged and began to operate under the name “Geography Teaching Methodology”. In recent years, the volume of scientific research within the department has expanded, and international cooperation has been established.
