About the “Ziyo Chashmasi” Newspaper
The “Ziyo Chashmasi” newspaper has been published since March 21, 1993, under the auspices of Abdulla Qodiriy Jizzakh State Pedagogical University. The publication was re-registered by the Jizzakh Regional Department of the Uzbekistan Press and Information Agency on December 27, 2006. Its main objective is to deliver social, cultural, and educational information to students and young people.
In recent years, the editorial office has improved its material-technical base and human resources. According to the staffing schedule, the team consists of a chief editor, a technical editor, and a proofreader — all of whom have higher education degrees. Additionally, a group of about fifty student volunteer correspondents has been formed.
The editorial office also runs the “Young Journalists” club, which includes creative students. Their scientific, literary, and journalistic works are regularly published on the newspaper’s pages.
In recent years, four students who regularly collaborated with the newspaper have won the State Scholarship named after Alisher Navoi. Two students were recognized in the national “Future of the Nation” contest (journalism), and three students won the “Most Active Young Journalist of the Year” award at the regional level.
To enrich the content of the newspaper and attract public attention to student concerns and proposals, a concrete action plan has been developed. New sections such as “Topic for Discussion”, “About Ourselves”, “For Your Bookshelf”, “I Have a Proposal!”, “Viewpoint”, and “Debate” have been introduced. As a result, more than thirty analytical and opinion-based articles were published in the last ten issues alone. Students’ views and feedback on these topics are regularly featured under the “Echo” section.
In accordance with the agreement between the editorial office and the university administration, specific goals were set at the beginning of this year to improve the newspaper’s quality, shorten its publication interval, and enhance the social well-being of its staff. Currently, the newspaper’s materials are also regularly published on the university’s official website.
