TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES THROUGH INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES

Annotation: This article provides information on the use of information technology in teaching a foreign language. Keywords: information technologies, innovative technologies, technological means, teaching foreign languages, teacher, student.   The  21st century is the age of information, without a doubt, specific amendments are being made to the traditional teaching of foreign languages. Our goal is to teach the correct and effective use of modern information technologies in the educational process within the university. In recent years, the issue of using new modern technologies in the teaching of foreign languages in higher educational institutions has been raised more and more. This is not only new technical tools, but also new forms and methods of teaching, a new approach to the educational process. In modern pedagogical practice, various teaching technologies are used, with the help of which students’ interest in science increases sharply; educational indicators and the level of intellectual culture also increase. One of the main tasks of the foreign language teaching process is to create conditions for each student to acquire a practical language, to choose teaching methods that allow each student to show his activity and creativity. Modern pedagogical technologies, such as collaborative teaching, project methodology, use of new information and communication technologies, Internet resources, help to implement a person-oriented approach to teaching, provide individualization and differentiation of education taking into account the abilities of students, their increases the level of education and inclination. In order to achieve the goal of teaching foreign languages, in the process of using information technology by the foreign language teacher, it is determined that students perform creative activities that include the ability to ask questions, explain, learn, and describe: compare, analyze, evaluate, express their thoughts and opinions, compare them, independently search for the necessary information, edit the text in English and prepare short reports on the given topic. – All of the above allows students to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired in practical activities and communication with foreign citizens in everyday life; – Obtaining information necessary for educational purposes from foreign sources; – Expansion of options for choosing future professional activities; – To study the values of world culture, cultural heritage and achievements of other countries; – Introducing the representatives of foreign countries to the culture and achievements of Uzbekistan. The use of elements of information technology in the lessons helps to form the ability to work with various information in the students of the higher educational institution, a critical attitude towards it, develops logical thinking, provides informative and emotional enrichment of the lessons, increases the interest and creative activity of students in science. The use of computers and information technologies in the second and third stages of education allows students to thoroughly prepare for the final certification of the English language based on the requirements of the state standard. In the course of teaching: students not only improve the knowledge they acquired during the previous training period, but also expand their vocabulary, taking into account practical knowledge of a foreign language in standard situations (within monologues). Currently, various forms of organization of the educational process are used. Since information technology is both a material delivery tool and a control tool, such technologies ensure high quality of material supply and use various communication channels (text, sound, graphic and sensor). All this allows to increase the motivation of students and to form their communicative competence. Studying foreign language classes with the help of a computer makes it possible to implement a person-oriented approach, provides individualization and differentiation of teaching, increases activity, motivates students, activates the learning process, increases self-esteem in students. develops, provides and creates a comfortable learning environment for them. Today, there are many computer programs for use in foreign language classes: – Educational programs – acquisition of certain knowledge, skills and habits; – Educational programs – strengthening of knowledge and skills; – Control programs – monitoring the quality of knowledge and correcting it; – Game programs – for intellectual development. Using information technologies, the following goals and tasks can be implemented:
  1. In teaching phonetics:
  2. a) acquisition of adequate pronunciation and ear discrimination skills. Further improvement of listening and pronunciation skills in relation to new linguistic material;
  3. b) formation of listening, pronunciation and intonation skills.
  4. When teaching grammar:
  5. a) expanding the scope of grammatical tools, mastering new grammatical events and using them in speech;
  6. b) effective mastering of certain grammatical events – for example, recognizing and using various types of sentences and constructions in speech;
  7. When working with a dictionary:
  8. a) systematization of lexical units, expansion of potential vocabulary, development of skills to recognize and use lexical units in speech;
  9. b) formation of lexical skills of reading, listening and effective writing skills.
  10. When teaching to read:
  11. a) the main types of reading: perception of real texts in different styles (public, fiction, non-fiction) using study, review and search;
  12. b) formation of the ability to independently overcome language difficulties, providing reference-informational support by providing language information (electronic encyclopedias, automatic dictionaries).
To sum up, the use of information technology in teaching a foreign language, first of all, gives a stable result due to the use of creative potential of students, which leads to the formation of a state of success and increases motivation in teaching. References:
